part sun/shade

Part sun/shade gardens receive some-to-no direct sunlight. These woodland retreats feature lush plantings. Consider starting with some of the below plants and combinations.

Spring Plants (April, May). Green and Gold (1-2 inches), Wild Geranium (1 foot), Foam Flower (1.5 feet), Woodland Phlox (1.5 feet), and Eastern Red Columbine (1-3 feet) are popular choices for spring.

Golden Ragwort (1-2 feet) is another spring-blooming plant. It has attractive, evergreen to semi-evergreen foilage. It can be used as a groundcover, as it spreads quickly to fill an area. Golden Ragwort shouldn’t be planted with more well-behaved plants.
